The results presented are based on questions asked in the national public health survey: How would you describe your dental health? In the past three months, have you felt you needed dental care but did not go to the dentist? Why did you not go to the dentist? The national public health survey is a sample survey of the country's population aged 16 and older. The population aged 16 to 84 are covered before 2021. The values presented are not adjusted for age. Until 2016, the national public health survey was conducted annually. As of 2018, it has been conducted every two years, however the sample size has doubled compared to the period up to and including 2016. Multi-year averages are used in order to obtain a sufficiently large data set for regions. The multi-year averages cover a period of four years and are based on the surveys conducted during this period. No statistics for Gotland are presented in the multi-year average for 2018-2021 and 2019-2021 due to few obersvations.
