Indicator definition: Percentage (%) of the population (17–84 years) that has consumed at least 14 standard glasses (men) and 9 standard glasses (women) per week, or has at least one drinking occasion with intensive consumption per month. A hazardous consumer refers to a person who all in all consumes an average alcohol quantity corresponding to at least 14 and 9 standard glasses per week (21 and 14 cl of pure alcohol) and/or intensively consumes once per month. Intensive consumption refers to how often over the past 30 days on the same occasion alcohol has been consumed corresponding to at least one bottle of wine (75 cl), 5 schnapps glasses of spirits (25 cl), 4 cans of strong beer/strong cider or 6 cans of medium-strength beer. The hazardous consumption measure is a combination of both of these variables: intensive consumption and the average quantity of consumed alcohol.
