Indicator definition: Litre pure alcohol (100 %) per inhabitant aged 15 and above. The total purchase is the sum of the unregistered alcohol purchase and the registered alcohol sale. Unregistered purchase comprises alcohol imported during travel abroad, purchase of smuggled alcohol, home-made alcoholic beverages (including home-distilled spirits) and the purchase of alcohol on the Internet. The registered sale of alcohol comprises sale at Systembolaget and sale of wholesale trade at places licenced to serve alcohol. At the turn of the half-year of 2013, certain changes were made to the methods used in the Monitor surveys. The age interval in the sample changed from 16–80 years to 17–84 years, however the changes have impacted the results to a small degree, which entails that the reported data is comparable over time. Up until 2004 the drop-out was approximately 40 %, thereafter it increased to 50 % between 2007 to 2008 and has continued to rise over recent years. In 2021 the non-respons rate was 66 %.
