Statistiken inkluderar all försäljning på recept och dosdispensering till personer folkbokförda i respektive område. Statistiken inkluderar förskrivning av alla utfärdare (t.ex. läkare, tandläkare, veterinärer). Åldersgrupperna är 0-6 år, 7-19 år, 20-64 år, 65-79 år samt 80 år och äldre. Ett recept motsvarar en expedierad varurad på apotek. Antal invånare hämtas från SCB i februari varje år. Dessa gäller då retroaktivt från januari och hela året ut. Under januari, innan data finns hos SCB gäller fjolårsdata. Total antibiotikaförsäljning för systemiskt bruk anges som J01 exklusive metenamin (J01XX05). Metenamin används mestadels i norden som profylax mot urinvägsinfektion och anses inte bidra till resistensproblem vid kliniskt bruk. ATC är ett klassificeringssystem (Anatomical/Therapeutic/Chemical) som indelar läkemedel hierarkiskt i fem nivåer. Statistiken innehåller relevanta preparat som används i öppenvården för att behandla infektioner. Data från och med år 2000 visas. Källa: Concise, E-hälsomyndigheten.
